Position Overview

 

Creative Minds International Public Charter School (PCS) is seeking a qualified and experienced Inclusion Manager to join our team. The Inclusion Manager will oversee the coordination of the Emerging Multilingual Learner (EML) program and lead professional development activities that focus on inclusive practices for all students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting students with diverse needs and a proven track record of leading an inclusive program for students from linguistically and culturally diverse backgrounds, as well as students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate the Emerging Multilingual Learner (EML) Program:

  • The Inclusion Manager will oversee the implementation of the EML program, ensuring that it meets the needs of multilingual students learning English as a second language and complies with all federal and state regulations. They will collaborate with teachers and administrators to identify and address the needs of EMLs and monitor their progress 
  • Support with coordination, scheduling, and administering WIDA screeners, WIDA ACCESS, and pre-IPT, including test session preparation on WIDA AMS 
  • Collaborate with school administration and teachers to provide accommodation for emerging multilingual learners on district and school-wide assessments 
  • Lead communication with EML families regarding EML status, programming, and rights.  Facilitate webinars and meetings to support EML family engagement 
  • Stay up-to-date on federal and state regulations related to EML program and ensure that the school is in compliance with all requirements 
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to emerging multilingual learners and provide regular updates to school leaders and stakeholders
  • Attend OSSE meetings regarding test administration, EML assessments, and policy implementation
  • Co-coordinating summer program for emerging multilingual learners
  • Use assessment data to develop language acquisition support plans and work with teachers to implement plans
  • Establish positive relationships with colleagues, students, families, and the community

Provide Leadership and Supervision to EML Teachers:

  • Providing leadership and supervision to EML teachers, supporting and evaluating their performance, and ensuring they adhere to the CMI employee policies 
  • Observe teachers in the classroom and provide feedback to improve their teaching practices
  • Evaluate EML teacher performance based on established criteria and provide constructive feedback for improvement
  • Collaborate with EML teachers to develop appropriate lesson plans and instructional materials for push-in and pull-out support 

Provide Coaching and Lead Professional Development: 

  • Develop and deliver professional development sessions on inclusive practices to all instructional staff members
  • Support the common system of classroom walkthroughs 
  • Collaborate with school leadership to develop school-wide initiatives that promote inclusion 
  • Provide ongoing support and coaching to teachers to ensure that inclusive practices are embedded in all aspects of the school culture 
  • Collaborate with the instructional coaches to ensure that UDL and second language acquisition practices are embedded in Fieldwork IEYC, IPC & IMYC units of study, Engage New York Math, Summit Learning, and myView Literacy 
  • Lead the implementation of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and other evidence-based practices that support diverse learners
  • Stay up-to-date on research and best practices related to inclusive practices. 

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with emerging multilingual learners and students with special needs.
  • Experience supervising and coaching teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff.
  • Knowledge of current research and best practices related to EML program, UDL, specialized instructional techniques, and inclusive practices. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work positively and cooperatively with others.
  • Knowledge of and experience with effective instruction and assessment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, families, and community partners.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
